Spire boxerNathan Whiteheadlooks to become the clubs second Derbyshire belt holder joining light welterweight champ Kristian Davey this Sunday ( June 3rd )at Queens Park Sports Centre. Nathan known as the Whirlwind takes on experienced Buxton fighter John Pickering for the light middleweight title on Spire Boxing Academys final show of the season. Head coach Robbie Sivyer said "we have put on some cracking shows over the last few years, but i can honestly say im more excited about this one than ever before", not only do we have Nathans title challenge, we have Rod Smiths 97th and final amateur contest before he turns pro, he fights Lincoln hard man Nathan Decastro who is just as experienced, the two of them have nearly 200 fights between them, Our current Derbyshire champ Davey recently lost narrowly to 4 time national champion Matty Fagin in Liverpool, Fagin had 56 wins in 64 contests so we believe Kristian can now box at the highest level, he will take on Hillsborough ABCs quality puncher Zane Clarke in another great match up, a contest not including a Spire boxer between Mansfields Kieran McGee and South Normantons Derbyshire champ Ryan Fields is a match everyone in the sport is eager to witness, two lads both in great form and a match up not to be missed, along with this we have the debut of super heavyweight Nathan Styles who goes in deep against unbeaten Trinity boxer Jack Harrison, Punchers Danny Hewitt, Luke Evell, Nathans brother Sam Whitehead, female boxer Jess Wolf along with Chesterfield war horse Samuel Mcllelan all feature in great match ups ,all this along with our finest junior boxers that include Spire boxers Connor Hinds, James Reynolds, Sam Lowe and Deejay McManus, all means a great night for familys and fight fans alike. |

Fright nightwas a roaring, growling success and chesterfield saw bouts that set the queens park sports centre on fire..................... All bouts were electric skillful and pure entertainment for me, the great match up between Sam mclellen and Nathan whitehead was a pure pound for pound toe to toe lesson in who wants it most and beautifully played out with the winner Nathan Whitehead taking his win proudly knowing it was a hard won battle. the crowd roared. The queens park sports centre was packed with a crowd I know were given a night to jot down as memorable. |
